Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art; Thou my best thought, by day or by night; Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
This traditional Irish Hymn has followed me since I was a young child. Growing up in the Methodist church, it was a favorite to sing and when I went to college, my class chose it as our class hymn. As I became a worship leader, and now as a cantor in our Catholic church, I often sing this song because it is not only a beautiful hymn, but the words are so meaningful. It reminds me to keep God in the forefront of my life, because He wants what is best for me. When I take my eyes off of Jesus, I stumble, fall and have to humble myself to Him. As a good Father, he picks me up and continues to love me as I grow.
I decided to start (another attempt at ) a blog because I feel like God is calling me to write more. Last Lent, as the world began to shut down, I felt like He wanted me to share my thoughts online with others and lift people up as the world felt like it was falling apart. It is my prayer that Gods uses this space and these thoughts to bless others and remind us that He has a vision and will for us and if we keep him in the forefront of our lives, we will be closer to him and be a blessing for others.
